"According to the Fund for Public Interest Network I am expendable after 9 years of field managing, directing and fundraising...because I did not make quota for 2 weeks in a row. I see it as their loss. I was dedicated, hard working, and a strong leader for society. They believe their system works. I believe my situation proves it does not. I was the number one caller in the country for 2 years until I voted yes for the Union. Since then I have been on the brink of being fired for not making quota. Everyday they talk about "real reform". Time to take their own words and implement them into their own policies. To the individuals I have worked beside for so long, I love you and thank you. I look forward to seeing the Union Contract finished and will continue to fight for the public's interest along side you, just not at the office. I may no longer be one of your lead negotiators, but my voice will remain strong and loud. Solidarity!" -Cortina Victoria
"I was brought up thinking 'Pride' was a 'sin.' It was a religious thing. If I've ever let myself feel that sense, then last night at our Union meeting was one of them. I'm very proud to say that the Portland T.O.P. Callers, Support Staff, and the Staff of the Communications Workers of America, (CWA Local 7901) is an outstanding group of folks. The level of solidarity and professionalism within the Negotiating Committee, Rank & File Callers, and the President/Staff of Local 7901 is uncanny, and noteworthy. Especially in the struggle for dignity & respect at the workplace. The meeting was informative, offered a way forward, and democratic in nature. I look forward to the day when ALL of the activists at The Fund are finally afforded the respect and values of the groups they tirelessly Fundraise for. At this time it looks like this will be so. It feels genuine, we are strong, and Im grateful to be a part of that. That is why I am proud. I embrace the time when Saint Peter and I work this out.
